Launched in 1968, The Escort still is one of the most popular rallycars. In order to properly celebrate the 40 years of its WRC title a new rally will be exclusively dedicated to this model in Chimay, Belgium on 14& 15 September 2019.
The Ford escort, has a very impressive list of sporting achievements. Several generations of drivers and spectators fell in love with this car and many of them are still in use today both in modern or historic specs. The best way to celebrate this motorsport icon is to organize an event on closed roads so that drivers can express their talent in a proper playground and that spectators can enjoy the show in a safe environment.
Recce, scrutineering and signing on will take place on Saturday 14 september. Rally HQ will be located on the old Chimay Racetrack, where a first show stage will be run in the evening. Sunday 15th the crews will discover 2 new special stages which they will run 4 times (100+stage km) with a service in Chimay after each loop.
This is a one off event. The main goal is to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the escort in a friendly atmosphere so that crews and fans can share their common passion. To celebrate both the 40th anniversary of the Escort's WRC title and of one of its iconic drivers: Bjorn Waldegard.
